Essential Oil of Tansy (Blue) (Tanacetum annuum)
Plant description: A flowering herbaceous plant with finely divided compound leaves and yellow, button-like flowers

Extraction method: Steam distillation
Main Chemical Constituents: Thujone, isopinocamphone, camphor, borneol, camphone, artmisone, chamzaulene, limonene, and piperitone.
PRECAUTIONS: Not to be confused with Tansy oil which is a potent poison due to high concentration of thujone. Blue Tansy has the potential to interact with certain OTC and prescription drugs. Avoid use with small children, elders, epileptics, pregnant and/or nursing women. Do not use higher than 5% in a dilution.
PROPERTIES: Anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-histaminic, antiviral, febrifuge, insecticide, hormone stimulant, sedative, and vermifuge substance.
Circulation/Muscles/Joints: Soothes inflammation and reduces pain
Immune System: Counteracts allergies and histamine, as well as kills infections caused by bacteria, viruses, and fungus.
Nervous system: Sedative to nervous system and emotional impulses.
Mental/Emotional: Brings feelings of self-control, focus and balance. Can be used to pacify emotions of anxiety, depression, anger, convulsions, and impulsive behavior by inducing a relaxing effect on the brain.

About this essential oil: It was first recorded as being cultivated by Ancient Greeks. It was used to treat intestinal worms, rheumatism, fevers, sores, and to “bring out” measles.
